Wendy Griffin

Seascapes Painter

Wendy was born in West Sussex, and moved to Guernsey in 1973 and has lived in the island ever since. She has always been interested in art, but it wasn't until her children were growing up that she developed her passion for painting. She has been fortunate enough to study with many professional artists on courses and workshops as well as learning from books and DVDs.

Guernsey's dramatic coastline and rough winter seas have long been her inspiration and she is drawn to atmosphere and light and specialises in creating dramatic land and seascapes from photographs she has taken and sketches made from nature in all of its moods.

Wendy has won several awards locally, and has four times won the Sir Havilland de Sausmarez trophy for general excellence in art at the Guernsey Eisteddfod, and Best in Show at the Sarnia Arts annual exhibition several times. She is also a member of the Master Guild of the Guernsey Picture Framers.
