Guernsey Art Network

Guernsey Art Network (GAN) is a Registered Charity, (CH555) set up by volunteers who are all locally based artists. Our Patron is The Lieutenant-Governor - Lieutenant General Sir Richard Cripwell CB, CBE

We aim to help promote artists who live and work in Guernsey and the Bailiwick, making art accessible to everyone. We do this by organising exhibitions, workshops, talks, pop up shops and much more.

The Greenhouse Collective

Three Greenhouses. Three Weekends. One Exhibition Celebrating Guernsey’s Heritage.

This September, three historic Guernsey greenhouses will be transformed into temporary exhibition spaces, each hosting a weekend of contemporary art inspired by the island’s rich agricultural and cultural heritage.

As housing pressures increase and the island’s landscape continues to change, we feel it is important to recognise and celebrate the value, history and character of Guernsey’s greenhouses. Once central to island life and agriculture, many now stand abandoned, gradually disappearing from the landscape.

Through art, we want to encourage people to look more closely at the lives, labour, stories and communities that once filled these spaces. By reflecting on our past, we hope to open up conversations around heritage, sustainability, our relationship with the land, and the future of our local communities.

The Exhibition

Our aim is to bring together a diverse group of local artists, each with their own creative practice, experiences and perspective. Their work will transform three historic greenhouse sites into temporary spaces for reflection, discovery and conversation.

Each weekend will offer visitors the opportunity to experience the artwork, learn more about the history of the individual sites and take part in activities connected to the exhibition. People involved with each site will also be on hand throughout the weekends to answer questions and share their knowledge and stories.

The Gele vinery

Opening Night - Friday 11 September | 6–9pm

Everyone is welcome to join us for the opening evening at The Gele. The evening will include a reading by Anna Stothard from her new book, The Girl in the Glasshouse, alongside refreshments and an opportunity to meet some of the artists and people involved in the project.

The exhibition at The Gele will then be open to the public:

Saturday 12 & Sunday 13 September | 10am–4pm

Cornucopia

Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 September | 10am–4pm

The exhibition will move to Cornucopia for the second weekend, with artwork, activities and opportunities to learn more about the site and its history.

Edible Guernsey

Saturday 26 & Sunday 27 September | 10am–4pm

The final weekend will take place at Edible Guernsey, bringing the exhibition to its conclusion and providing another opportunity to explore the relationship between art, agriculture, heritage and the island’s landscape.

All three exhibitions are free to attend. Donations will be very welcome and will help support the project.

We will have a SumUp machine, donation buckets and a QR code available at each site for anyone who would like to contribute.

We knew we could rely on the brilliant local talent to deliver for this wonderful project. And wow! You guys did not disappoint, what creativity we have on this little isle.

With such an eclectic array of works, we have had such joy going through all your artworks.

We are currently in the process of responding to everyone with an email detailing how, when and where to drop your works off. So stay tuned!

P.S. We are aware some have missed the deadline and are currently still in creation, therefore we are accepting the odd late submission. (These works may not be available at the The Gele opening; however, they will be visible at the later shows at Cornucopia and Edible Guernsey.)

The Creativity Trolley

The trolley is a mobile arts initiative within the PEH. Working in collaboration with the States of Guernsey Health and Social Care (HSC) Arts + Health programme, we deliver inclusive high quality arts experiences that support patients, their families visitors, and staff - bringing the healing power of creativity into healthcare and daily life. Trained Arts practitioners and trained volunteers visit the wards with our Creativity Trolley.

Nominated for the Arts Contribution Award in the Pride of Guernsey Awards 2025, the trolley has already reached a huge amount of patients, staff and visitors across numerous wards and departments, bringing the powerful impact of the arts to the bedside.

Special thanks to the Social Investment Fund for their generous funding, and to the States of Guernsey (HSC) for their continued collaboration and support in making this initiative possible. Huge appreciation to the dedicated team behind the Trolley, and to everyone who makes this work so meaningful.

Calling Guernsey’s Creative Practitioners

Bring Your Creativity into Healthcare!

Are you a visual artist or creative practitioner who enjoys working with people and believes creativity can make a meaningful difference?

Health and Social Care’s Arts & Health programme, in partnership with the Guernsey Art Network, is looking for Participatory Arts Practitioners to join our Creativity Trolley programme at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

The Creativity Trolley brings person-centred creative experiences directly to patients, creating opportunities for connection, conversation, self-expression and wellbeing during their time in hospital.

We would love to hear from visual artists and creative practitioners working across a wide range of disciplines and art forms.

You do not need previous experience of working in healthcare. We are looking for people with a strong creative practice who enjoy engaging with others, can work with sensitivity and adaptability, and are interested in developing their skills within a healthcare environment. Training, induction and ongoing support will be provided.

Paid and volunteering opportunities are available.

10 Years of GAN

2025 marked a decade of Guernsey Art Network!

Our celebration party was opened by our patron His Excellency Sir Richard Cripwell and Chair Athene Sholl. Arts Practitioner Marcel Lenormand was on hand to give His Excellency a demo of the trolley and it was great to see a mix of committee members past and present in attendance. It reminds us of the importance of what we do - which is bringing artists together.

We have some fabulous solid gallery exhibition grade boards for hire, suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

Our boards can be rented for £400 per session which can be for the length of time of your choosing. If you would like to rent the boards for an extended period of time we can organise an arrangement.

We are still looking for volunteers to join our charity to help and support local artists and the art community in Guernsey. If you are interested or would like to chat with one of our members about taking on a role within the network please get in touch!

Want to Host a Skillshare Session?

If you are interested in running your own workshop we would love to hear from you. Any type of creative practice goes - knitting, painting, drawing, sculpture, abstraction, realism the list goes on! We cannot keep running these amazing workshops without Artists to facilitate them (and the wonderful attendees).

The artists running the events are paid for their time and costs of materials are covered.
