Simone Le Goff studied at Hereford College in the late 80s and achieved a BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design and her higher College Diploma in Small Studio Practice, later to become Applied Arts.
After leaving College Simone has displayed her work at a number of exhibitions and has kept a keen interest in her art over the years; producing and selling a number of items in between working and travelling.
Over the past two years her output in embroidery and illustration has accelerated and after many years has found her niche medium.
Simone uses textiles as her primary medium, fabric as the base for her work, usually silk, then using machine stitching to add lines, colour and texture; think of the stitch as a thread pencil or thread brush stroke.
The use of padding under the silk adds contours and depth to each piece, creating form and shape most obvious in the portraiture work that she creates. High cheekbones, full red sensual lips and skin tone are her trademark. Each piece is finished off with jewels and Indian bindis to add an air of magic and romance.
Simone also produces watercolour and pen-ink Portraits and illustrations of a magical fairytale world, taking inspiration from children’s books.
