Textile Collage
Having lived in Guernsey my entire life, I am happy to say that the creative enthusiasm I discovered during my school years – influenced by the Island’s landscapes and wildlife – has not wavered into my adult years. This passion for the natural environment has enabled me to explore many things of interest which are portrayed in my current works.
After acquiring a 20 year old sewing machine 3 years ago I started thinking about how I could use my new addition. Having only really been familiar with painting and drawing, I had limited experience in the art of textiles. After studying other artists’ works, I got a feel for what I wanted to create myself. With so many of Guernsey’s most beautiful landscapes and landmarks practically on my doorstep, I decided that I wanted to recreate these scenes using various fabrics. After many self-taught lessons in using a sewing machine, I finally settled on a style of working I was happy with, which has led me to where I am today.
I am currently in the process of creating a range of gift cards and other items using my various designs.
