Ever since I was a child I have loved to sketch, paint, sew and create. After having my three children I decided to turn my passion into a small business and A Cashin Creation was born 10 years ago.
My love of drawing and sewing naturally progressed to free motion embroidery which feels like drawing with a sewing machine.
My creative process is inspired by island life; walking on the beach, watching the kids surf at Vazon, growing tomatoes or wandering the harbour – my sketchbook at the ready when inspiration strikes. My designs reflect the pleasures of daily life from cups of coffee and mugs of tea to cakes and custard creams. I give my designs titles such as “Gone to the Beach”, “Time for Tea”, “Gone to Sark” and “A La Perchoine”.
My 2015 collection includes cushions, cards, doorstops, lavender hangers, makeup bags, purses and tea cosies – all made using the finest quality materials featuring my favourite colour palette of red, blue, grey and white reflecting the coastal landscape of our island.
Free motion embroidery involves creating individual fabric elements of my design, building up the image until all pieces are in place - outlined by my signature black stitching. This year I have featured daffodils in a jug and a “Gone to Port Soif” cushion detailing a blue kiosk, cake and bunting.
I love taking commissions and converting a client's idea into their perfect, personal piece be it a wedding present or something for their own home.
