Locally born and bred, Sara has lived in Guernsey all her life and pursued a career in advertising before raising her family but it wasn’t until 2002 that she took up painting. Completely self-taught she grew passionate about her art and gained experience and knowledge from attending workshops and courses whenever she could.
She loves colour and drama and uses it to depict the spectacular scenery, stunning skies and powerful seascapes of her beloved home Island. Whilst she has painted in pastels, she continually returns to her passion of oils for her seascapes.
Sara was soon holding her debut solo exhibition at St James Gallery and has since held several more at Guernsey Picture Framers and Gallery where she is now a member of their Master Guild.
Sara joined the Sarnia Arts & Crafts Club and is currently the President having been elected in 2011. She was voted ‘best in show’ on her debut entry into their annual Summer Exhibition in 2008 and has since gone on to attain many Honours and First Class certificates for her work entered into the Guernsey Eisteddfod and was awarded the coveted Sir Havilland de Sausmarez Trophy for ‘General Excellence in Art’ in 2013.
More recently she has also turned her interest to painting wildlife in pastels and pastel pencils and was awarded the Lee Baglin Trophy for ‘General Excellence in Drawing’ at this year’s Eisteddfod for her painting of a leopard in a tree.
Sara’s paintings are on display at Officepoint (Guernsey) Limited, Barras Lane, Vale, the stationery and art shop that she has owned and run with her husband for the past 15 years.
