To mark the end of the month of art events and the final stage of the collaboration project 'monument'. 'Ring' is the first in the series of 4 interactive sculptures and the festival organisers are inviting everyone along to enjoy this sculpture by having a picnic on the top lawn of the Castle on this Sunday.

Background
The project 'Monument' has been the result of a collaboration between sculptor Joe Kincaid, and painters Patrick Farncombe and Frances Lemmon and will be on display within the castle grounds at four different locations for the whole month of September.
Public painting workshops were held in July to paint the canvasses that are stretched on the frames, with Guernsey themes relating to heritage - including an aerial map of the Bailiwick including Herm, Sark, Alderney, Guernsey and the coast of Normandy and icons from the £1 bank note.
The twelve canvases were then removed from the frames and distributed throughout the Island of Guernsey, to twelve historic sites to be displayed in various ways throughout August, so they would weather and take on different aspects of Guernsey's climate, as this is part of Guernsey heritage that is almost forgotten about.
And then the canvases are coming back together, weathered and torn and will create 4 separate interactive sculptures throughout the month of September around the Castle depicting local heritage structures:- Ring, Dolmen, Castle and Tower.
