The first stage of the interactive sculpture project 'Monument' by Joe Kincaid 'Ring' was set on the top lawn of Castle Cornet and could be seen even from the town Esplanade.
As part of the Skipton Art Festival the public were invited to paint workshop in July. 12 panels depicted Guernsey historic and heritage.
The 12 panels were then made into banners and placed at 12 selected Guernsey Heritage sites as an art trail for people to explore over the summer month of August. The panels were displayed in various formats and allowed to be weathered in different ways throughout the month, including pinned to the ground for the public to walk on, flying as a flag, hung over a doorway or placed in a position were it would be submerged by the daily tide.
The month of August saw two big storms, the effects of which can be seen in some of the panels with tears and holes.
The banners were then brought back together and stretched back on to the wood panels. Throughout the month of September sculptor Joe Kincaid will build four consecutive sculptures using the panels to depict well known heritage sites - ring, tower, dolmen and castle.
'The main focus was that this project should be interactive, bringing more awareness to the Guernsey heritage and art.' said Joe Kincaid.
A public picnic was organised to see the end of the month of events for the main part of the Skipton Art Festival for this year and to introduce the beginning of the sculpture series.
